Managing Director
With more than 17 years of experience in debt collection and portfolio management, Barton brings a deep understanding of how strategy, data, and people combine to drive meaningful results. He has worked across all facets of the industry, from frontline operations to senior leadership, and knows that genuine performance stems from clarity, fairness, and smart systems that enable better decisions.
As Managing Director of Standard8 Advisory, Barton focuses on innovation, technology, and behavioural insight to help clients optimise performance and strengthen portfolio outcomes. He is passionate about developing data-informed solutions that enhance accountability and deliver lasting value for clients.
Barton is supported by Bob Shields, Director & Senior Advisor, whose 33 years of experience and insight continue to strengthen Standard8’s commitment to excellence and forward-thinking performance, combining proven techniques with a modern, technology-driven approach.
Bob Shields
Director
Bob brings more than 33 years of specialised experience in the receivables and collections sector. Together with Bart, their combined industry experience exceeds 50 years, forming a strong foundation for Standard8’s capability and strategic approach.
As an owner–operator of several small businesses, Bob provides valuable commercial insight into the operational challenges faced by clients. He has worked closely with Australia’s major banks and global credit card brands, managing contingent collections and purchased debt portfolios across diverse environments.
Bob also plays a key leadership role in Standard8’s Fiji partnership and in the development of Valora, our technology-led platform designed to modernise and strengthen recovery practices. His extensive experience enables him to deliver balanced, strategic guidance that helps clients minimise risk and achieve consistent, high-quality results.
